Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
In short: you can use Place Card Studio without an account, and then your designs and guest list stay in your browser. If you create an account, we store your email address and the events you save so you can open them on any device. We don't sell your information, we don't use advertising trackers, and we never see your card details: Stripe handles payments.
1. Who we are
Place Card Studio (placecardmaker.app) is operated by Jackson Charles Knight (sole trader), ABN 16 127 973 168, New South Wales, Australia ("we", "us"). Contact us about privacy at support@placecardmaker.app.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. What we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | When you sign in | To send your sign-in link and identify your account |
| Your saved events: card designs, uploaded fonts and images, and your guest list (names, table numbers, meal choices, song requests and notes) | Only when you choose Save to account (then autosaved) | So you can keep working on any device |
| Purchase records: an event ID, a payment reference and the amount | When you unlock an event | To unlock your exports, handle refunds and keep tax records |
| Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and request logs | When you visit | To run, secure and troubleshoot the site |
We do not receive or store your card number. Payments are processed by Stripe.
3. Your guests' information
Guest lists contain other people's names and may include meal choices, which can hint at dietary, health or religious needs. Please only enter what you need for your event, and make sure your guests would be comfortable with you using their details this way. We use guest information only to provide the service to you; we never contact your guests or use their details for anything else.
4. Without an account
If you don't sign in, your designs and guest list are kept in your own browser's storage and in any progress files you download. They are not sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so keep a progress file (Save / Load).
5. Services we use
We rely on these providers to run the service. They process information on our behalf and some store it outside Australia:
- Cloudflare: hosting and security for the website.
- Supabase: account sign-in, saved events and uploaded files. This data may be stored outside Australia.
- Stripe: payment processing. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Resend: sending sign-in emails.
- Google Fonts: the card typefaces load from Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
Where information is stored overseas, we choose providers that protect it to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, remember your current event and its unlock, and remember small preferences (such as hiding the welcome message).
7. How long we keep it
- Saved events stay in your account until you delete them or close your account.
- Purchase records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires (generally five years).
- Server logs are kept only briefly for security and troubleshooting.
8. Security
Data is sent over HTTPS. Saved events and uploaded files are protected so that each account can only reach its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't upload anything you'd be harmed by losing.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your saved events at any time.
- Deletion: delete individual events in My events. To close your account and delete everything, email support@placecardmaker.app and we'll do it within 30 days.
- A copy of your data: use Save / Load to download a progress file, or ask us.
10. Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, contact us first at support@placecardmaker.app and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Children
The service is meant for adults planning events and isn't directed at children under 16.
12. Changes
If we make significant changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
